To maintain an Active license, brokers must take eight (8) hours of continuing education each year during the license period of July 1 – June 10. See Rule 58A.1702 Provisional Brokers and non-BIC Brokers must take the General Update (GENUP) course and one NCREC-approved elective. BICs and BIC-Eligible Brokers should take the BICUP (Broker-in-Charge Update) course and one NCREC-approved elective. BICS who take the GENUP and an elective will lose their BIC eligibility/status.
