Primary REALTOR® | Secondary REALTOR® | Associate
REALTOR® membership is extended to individuals holding an active real estate or appraisal license. Licensees must be fully engaged in the real estate profession and associated with an established real estate firm in the State of North Carolina, or a contiguous state.
REALTOR® membership at the Durham Regional Association of REALTORS® (DRAR) includes exclusive products, programs and services that automatically extend to the North Carolina Association of REALTORS® (NCR) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), allowing use of NAR’s federally registered “REALTOR®” trade name. This sets licensees apart from non-members. Proudly display the REALTOR® logo in your marketing! For a full list of membership benefits, see below.
Primary REALTOR®
Primary REALTOR® members are licensed brokers and Designated brokers-in-charge who pay their local, state and national dues through DRAR. One of the principals in your real estate firm must be a Designated REALTOR® (primary or secondary) at DRAR for licensees to select DRAR as their primary Association.
Provisional membership is granted upon submission of the application and prorated dues. Provisional members are considered REALTORS® and may enjoy the privileges and obligations of full membership, however a New Member Orientation, Code of Ethics training and approval by the DRAR Board of Directors must be completed within 60 days to become a full Primary REALTOR® member.
Secondary REALTOR®
Secondary REALTOR® members are licensed brokers and Designated brokers-in-charge who hold primary membership at another Association. A Letter of Good Standing is required from the primary Association. Secondary members pay local dues and any service-related fees.
Associate
Associate membership is for professionals who do not sell real estate, but whose expertise also impacts the real estate industry. Associate membership is ideal for those interested in networking and promoting their products and services to REALTOR® members, including title company managers, mortgage bankers, home builders, closing attorneys, home inspectors, insurance agents, staging and interior designers, handymen and professional house cleaners. Read more about the benefits of an DRAR Associate Membership.
Associate membership is granted on an individual, not a company basis.
